SHRA Committee members visit "The Birdman" Those of you who attended the AGM in May will have seen the excellent presentation by Alan Everard of the RSPB which he, unfortunately, had to rush through due to the circumstances of the evening. On 28th May, committee members John O'Hara, Carol Golder and Midge Killen paid a visit to Alan to thank him for coming to the meeting and to offer our apologies for not giving him the time he expected and deserved. John Carol and Midge were enthralled by Alan's garden and Midge had the following thoughts: |

"The afternoon was sunny but windy but Alan's Beach Side Garden was a joy for us. Alan and his wife were waiting for us, they are very kind people and made us welcome. As we went up the pathway, the garden was all around us, the smell of plants and sea air began to relax us. We went through to Alan's Garden, for me he has created such a compelling combination of the plants and natural beach. He and his wife shared it with us over tea. The Garden is it's own landmark, the surroundings of stunning displays of rocks. driftwood and plants nested around small tide like pools for the birds to come to feed and bathe in. A wonderful way to spend our afternoon tea time chat, it would be hard to find a spot like this along the beach here at the Harbour. I am sure that we would like to have something similar here on the beach for all to enjoy when we take time out to relax. This is something we should work towards, strips of natural beach side planted for all to enjoy. This will be one of the goals we need to work together on, to bring the harbour to a village place for all." |
