September 2010 - EBC have published a new Eastbourne Guide designed to promote business growth in Eastbourne. It contains the following references to Sovereign Harbour.
On p14. "The town is preparing now by creating plans for the town centre and developing a Science Park at Sovereign Harbour which will be a regional technology hub to create jobs and provide space for businesses to invest."
On p32. "While Eastbourne has a significant site at Sovereign Harbour earmarked for business development, the town can also offer a number of opportunities where existing sites are ripe for redevelopment, offering lower build costs, with the benefit of existing infrastructure."
On p34. "A top priority for the Council is to create a regional hub of technology excellence at Sovereign Harbour. This will enable local companies to grow and stay in the town, which will attract new investment and provide skilled employment."
The creation of a business park in the area alongside Pevensey Bay Road was part of the original plans for the development of the Sovereign Harbour work/life 'village'. Whether these statements are just promotional wishful thinking, or are based on secured funding and a demand for such a park, remains to be seen.
August 2011 - SHRA and both political groups on the council have reached a consensus over the possible future development of the Harbour and released a Joint Statement.
