The December meeting of Sovereign Harbour Investment Club - SHICLUB, took place at the Harvester lounge at the Waterfront on Tuesday 11th December 2007 at 7:00pm, with Sam Sweiry in the Chair.

The Club received one more member resignation.

As per last month meeting, members voted to buy back the equitable shares of the resigning member, and to pay the leaving member of the Club from the January Investment Funds.

Jon Curtis (Honorary Secretary) read the minutes of last meeting which was held on the 20th November, which was approved by all members.

Mark Taylor (Honorary treasurer) presented the Treasurer's report which was scrutinised and approved by all members.

Comments on existing portfolio, including discussion and decision on new investment were discussed at length.

Further research and suggestions were put forward for discussion. Because the Club had to buy back the equitable shares of two leaving members, there will be no share purchase for this coming month.

This is allowed under the rule of the Club which makes all remaining members have higher equitable shares in the Club. any new member will have to start from the begining.

Membership is open to all at a monthly contribution of £27.00.

A new drive to recruit more members within the Harbour in the coming year was approved.

At the next AGM meeting in January 2008, all the officers will step down and offer themselves for re-election.

Sam Sweiry will not stand for re-election because of his other commitments in the Harbour, however, he will remain an active member of SHICLUB.

The meeting concluded at 8:00pm followed by a Christmas Party for members and there partners which was well attended until 11:30pm

The November meeting of Sovereign Harbour Investment Club - SHICLUB, took place at the Harvester lounge at the Waterfront on Tuesday 20th November at 7:00:pm, with Sam Sweiry in the chair.

Apologies received from Mark Taylor ( Honorary Treasurer ) who couldn't make it for the meeting because of work commitment.

The Club received the resignation of one member who is leaving the Harbour. As per last month meeting, members voted to buy back the equitable shares of the resigning member and to pay the leaving member of the Club from the December Investment Funds.

As from the 1st of December , SHICLUB have a vacancy for four new members.

Member confirmed our Christmas Dinner which will take place on Tuesday 11th December at 8:30pm after the conclusion of SHICLUB members meeting which starts at 7:00pm.

The General Manager of the Harvester Mr. Jose Brito will donate £1 for each booking toward the SHICLUB Christmas Charity which members will nominate at the next Club meeting.

The October meeting of Sovereign Harbour Investment Club - SHICLUB, took place at the Harvester lounge at the Waterfront on Tuesday 30th of October at 7:00pm, with Sam Sweiry in the chair.

Mrs. Carol Scott offered to act as Honorary Secretary for the purpose of this meeting.

The Club received two members resignations. Members voted to buy back the equitable shares of those members and to pay those leaving the Club from the November Investment Funds.

Mark Taylor ( Honorary treasurer ) read the treasurer report which showed, the Club made again profit for the second month running for its members, despite the roller coaster of the financial market. This was approved by all members.

The September meeting of Sovereign Harbour Investment Club - SHICLUB took place at the Harvester Lounge at the Waterfront on Tuesday 25th of September 2007 at 7:00pm, with Sam Sweiry in the chair.

All future meetings of SHICLUB will be held at the Harvester Lounge. The member expressed there thanks to Mr. Jose Brito - the General Manager of the Harvester for offering our group a home.

The minutes of the last meeting were read by Jon Curtis (Honorary Secretary) and were discussed and approved by all members.

Mark Taylor (Honorary Treasurer) read the treasurer report which showed a profit for the fist time despite the downfall of the financial market. This was approved by all members.

Further purchase have been approved out of five proposed and researched by members. This will bring the club holding to eight (8).

The members approved the change date of the November club meeting, which now will be held on Tuesday 20th of November, while the December meeting will be held on Tuesday 11th of December with Christmas Dinner at the Harvester.

As of 26th September, the SHICLUB still has one remaining vacancy.

The August meeting of Sovereign Harbour Investment Club - SHICLUB, took place at Madissons Bar at the Waterfront on Tuesday 28th of August 2007 at 7pm.

This is the last time SHICLUB hold its meeting at Madisson. Membership will meet at a new venue in September. Details will be published in next month update.

Two members have left the harbour. in accordance with the Club Rule, there proprotionate share in the Club Ownership have been returned.

Members of SHICLUB welcomed two new members who have recently moved-in to live in the Harbour.

This resulted in the Club still having nineteen of the twenty members allowed under the constitution.

SHICLUB now has a total of Seven (7) holdings with a total value of £2,843.06 as of last accounting period. Further purchase have been approved after a lengthy discussion.

As soon as this is confirmed, a waiting list based on first come first served basis, will be opened and everyone interested is welcome to join as people move in and out of living in the harbour.

ONE (1) company was picked up out of 12 companies suggested and researched by SHICLUB members.

The June meeting of Sovereign Harbour Investment Club - SHICLUB, took place at Madissons Bar at the Waterfront on Tuesday 26th of June 2007.

Jon Curtis took the Chair while Sam Sweiry attended the meeting but was unwell to take the chair.

The Club still has nineteen of the twenty members allowed under the constitution; however, one person attended as guest of the Club to consider the possibility of taking up the last vacancy for membership. The May meeting of Sovereign Harbour Investment Club "SHICLUB" took place at Madissons' Bar at the Waterfront on Tuesday 29th May 2007.

Sam Sweiry took the Chair in opening this meeting.

The Club now has nineteen of the twenty members allowed under the constitution.

As soon as the remaining place is filled, a waiting List, based on first-come first-served basis, will be opened and everyone is welcome to join as people move in out of living in the Harbour.

Mark Taylor ( Honorary Treasure) read the treasurer report and explained the New Setup of how each member can now follow up todate movement in the club account on the club website as well as the proportionate share ownership of each member within the club.

a £900 cheque was handed by Mark Taylor (Honorary STreasurer) to Jon Curtis (Honorary Secretary) for the next purchase of TWO (2) Companies Shares.

This was discussed at length and two (2) Companies were selected and approved by the majority.

The April meeting of Sovereign Harbour Investment Club "SHICLUB" took place at Madisons Bar at the Waterfront on Tuesday 24th of April 2007. The venue was changed, on the request of membership, from Pablo to Madison. All future meeting of SHICLUB will be held at Madisons.

The Club now confirms it has now fifteen of the maximum of twenty members allowed by the constitution.

The meeting was opened by Jon Curtis (Honorary Secretary) who offered himself as acting chairperson in the abscence of Sam Sweiry ( Chairperson ).

Apologies were read from Sam Sweiry, who's father died on Thursday 19th of April at the age of 106.

Victor Harman (Member) offered to take the minutes of the meeting which was attended by the remaining 14 members.

Matters arising from previous Minutes were discussed and approved by all members.

Mark Taylor (Honorary Treasurer) read Treasurer's Report to confirm initial "New Members" contributions had been received and members had now confirmed they had set up there Standing Orders for monthly contributions to the Investment Club Bank.

Mark Taylor handed over to Jon Curtis a cheque for £890 to buy two (2) company's shares through E'TRADE as approved by members on the 27th of March Members Meeting.

It was agreed that Howard Farmer will tidy up the Club Website which is open to Members Only.

The 'March' meeting of the Sovereign Harbour Investment Club took place at Simply Italian Restaurant on Tuesday the 27th of March 2007.

The club now confirms it has Twelve of the maximum of Twenty members allowed by the Constitution.
The Meeting was opened by Jon Curtis (Honorary Secretary) who then offered himself as Acting Chairperson in the absence of Sam sweiry.(Chaiperson)
Apologies were read from Sam Sweiry, as he is currently on his early Easter Holiday until Mid April.

The meeting was attended by the remaining 11 Members.

Minutes of Last Meeting were read by Jon Curtis (Company Secretary).

Matters Arising from Previous Minutes were discussed & approved by all members.

Mark Taylor, (Honorary Treasurer) read the Treasurer's Report to confirm initial members contributions had been received & members had now confirmed they had set up there standing orders for monthly contributions to the investment clubs bank.
Mark, also confirmed that the Inland Revenue had been notified that initial contributions would commence after the new tax year of 06th April 2007, for the purposes of Capitol Gains Assessments.

Members agreed on a majority vote to buy two (2) company's shares.
These were discussed at length and finally put to a Majority vote.
It was confirmed that the club would be able to invest after the 06th April 2007 Through E-Trade online trading.

It was agreed that 'Howard Farmer' will be responsible for setting up and documenting the club activities through the clubs dedicated website: to members only.

The February meeting of the Sovereign Harbour Investment Club took place at Madison Bar and Restaurant on the 27th of February 2007.

The club now has thirteen of the maximum of twenty members allowed by the constitution, five new members having joined during the past month.

Mark Taylor resign as honorary secretary and offered himself for the position of honorary treasurer. He was proposed and seconded, and voted in by the majority.

Jon Curtis then offered himself as honorary secretary. He was proposed, seconded and voted in by the majority. Jon will carry on his other duty as the honorary officer responsible for the execution of share transactions.
Mark Taylor explained how the monthly proportionate of members share in SHICLUB would be calculated. He also explained the Inland Revenue rules, the tax implications, and the registration of SHICLUB with the Inland Revenue.

Members were made aware of there duty to declare share holdings and gains.
Jon Curtis confirmed the opening of the account with E-trade and explained the use of online trading for SHICLUB. Members agreed to be informed what share to buy and to vote in an orderly open meeting attended by at least 60% of members.

Investment will commence after 1st of April 2007, the start of the Tax Year.
New members were asked to read the club constitution and to sign the document to join SHICLUB.
The honorary secretary collected the cheques for £50 which represent a one off entry fee. Members voted in a resolution to set the monthly contribution ceiling at £27. Members were asked to set-up direct debits with their banks.

Members were asked to complete the form for the Inland Revenue Investment Club Certificate.
It was agreed that Howard Farmer will be responsible for setting up and documenting the club activities through a dedicated website www.shiclub.co.uk

It was suggested that representatives of selected ‘blue chip’ companies should be invited to talk to SHICLUB members. Sam Sweiry will explore possibilities.

The next SHICLUB meeting will be held at Simply Italian on Tuesday 27th March 2007 at 7:00pm. Jon Curtis will take the chair in the absence of the chairman.

The inaugural meeting of the Sovereign Harbour Investors Club took place in Di Lietos coffee lounge on 30th January 2007. The members have adopted the name 'SHICLUB'.

At inauguration, there were eight members, but the club's constitution allows for up to twenty.

The meeting appointed Sam Sweiry as chairman and Mark Taylor as secretary.

Jon Curtis was appointed as the officer responsible for the execution of share transactions.

The position of treasurer is vacant until a Bank Account is opened. This will be done by the next meeting and an election will be made for this post.

Members will pay a one-off entry fee of £50

Members will contribute £27 per month, £25 of which will be invested, and £2 to cover costs.

E'Trade will be appointed as the Club Stockbroker.

The Co-Op Bank will be appointed as the Club Bankers.

The first clause of the club's constitution reads:

"The first principle of the club shall be that no member shall be deprived of his/her equitable share in the assets of the club".


and the last clause No. 15 reads

"Sovereign Harbour Investment Club shall be made of neighbours and friends who must live in Sovereign Harbour Village and who all have similar ideas of Speculative Investments. Any club member who cease to reside in Sovereign Harbour Village, will have his/her membership terminated and have his/her equitable share of the club assets returned in accordance with the rules of the club."

However, the club chairman, Sam Sweiry says there are only two rules for investing:

First rule: NEVER LOOSE MONEY.

Second rule: NEVER FORGET THE FIRST RULE.
